Our
new ethics project,' Be a Life model',
provides a forum for learning, reflection and
understanding of the moral laws (guiding principles) that
lead to real Life. The project encourages people to
develop and maintain the character befitting a Life model.
Our free 'Be a Life Model Introductory Handbook' explains
all about the project and provides in depth tutorials and
discussions on topical moral issues and ethical rules.
Simply by getting a copy of the handbook free of charge,
you can start participating in the project right away
without the need to leave or travel out of your current
location. To get your own copy of the handbook,
please
click here for the Microsoft Word version of the
handbook or
click here for the PDF (Acrobat Reader) version of the
handbook; or, if you prefer, we can send you a copy by
email, in which case you need to send us your email
address.
Discussions
and the numerous exercises in the 'Be a Life model'
handbook are presented in such a way that enable you to
learn and reflect on your own; but if you are able to go
through the ideas in the handbook with others in a group
setting, we encourage you to do so. Should you need us to
go through or discuss the ideas in the handbook with you
via email or other possible channels, please feel free to
let us know. We strongly believe that ethics
has a lot to do with achieving and maintaining sustainable
development and livelihood. We are not merely talking
about complying with the laws, rules and regulations just
because someone is looking over your shoulder, but we are
talking about living a lifestyle of good moral values and
doing so whether someone is looking or not. We are talking
about your personal determination to lead a good life, to
choose between good and bad. Each second of the day
we are faced with opportunities to decide between two
forces, the good or the bad and whichever one we chose
affects not only ourselves but those around us. For
example, if you are poor and are able to obtain micro
credit for the purpose of starting a micro business, and
instead of using the micro credit for the purpose meant,
you use it for other unrelated purposes, are you
expecting to achieve a sustainable livelihood or non
sustainable livelihood? This is why we are running the 'Be
a Life model' project and also dedicating this
section of our website to ethics. We aim to
bring to your awareness, resources or
thoughts we find useful to help you make ethics your way
of life and not just something you grudgingly comply to.
This will help you build and maintain sustainable
development and meaningful livelihood around you. Whether
you are a student, a business or social entrepreneur, a
community leader or community member, there is something for you here.
